Plan for Office
"Pull back the hood"
If elected, I’d like to “pull back the hood” on the Clerk’s Office and take a close look at the services, operations and overall functionality of the office. Analyze costs, staffing, technology capabilities, and the overall effectiveness of deliverables by the office with the goal of providing the most efficient and effective services for constituents.
Bring back the workforce
Bring the clerk’s office workforce back into the office five days a week. The office’s public services are too important for our constituents to not have a fully staffed and fully functioning office five days a week. Constituents should not have to face any delays when they are seeking marriage licenses, birth certificates and especially death certificates. This has been a recurring problem since the pandemic, and I plan to address it immediately.
Vote by mail security
With the expansion of the Vote By Mail program, I want to be able to reassure the public that the process does have in place the highest level of ballot security, and the elections are carried out in the most transparent process possible.
Build public confidence
My goal is to build the highest level of public confidence possible when it comes to the execution of our elections. I will do that through professionalism. Not hyper partisanship which seems to encapsulate all bodies of county government.
End nepotism
Stamp out the culture of nepotism and illegal patronage within the office. The late Clerk faced those questions during her time in office. I will demand only the highest level of professional standards for the office from top to bottom.
Transparency and secutity
Election integrity has been a constant talking point and a cause for concern in recent years by both Republicans and Democrats. As head of elections, I will make transparency and security the top priorities of the elections department. Eliminating the appearance of fraud will be central to my objectives.
Fair and equitable representation
I want to place an even greater emphasis on providing a “Fair & Equitable” representation of parties when staffing Election Judges. We know Republicans have been underrepresented in this area, and as Clerk, I will apply a strong emphasis in correcting the imbalance.
Making a change
It’s interesting to think that a Democrat Party Boss oversaw our elections which the late Karen Yarbrough was. She served as Committeewoman of Proviso Township and had high ranking positions within both the Cook County Democratic Party and the Illinois Democratic Party. Now, they plan on replacing her with another Democrat Party Boss in Monica Gordan – the Bloom Township Committeewoman and current county commissioner from the 5th District. Do we need another party boss running our elections here in Cook County? I don’t think so. I’m not a party leader. I’m a businesswoman from outside the party leadership who can bring fresh perspective to the office.
